To Start the windows Disk Defragemnter
Start>>Programs>>Accessories>>System Tools>>Disk Defragmenter
Power Saving Options : The lesseer you make your hard disk to work, the longer it lasts with out developing any bad sectors. Hibernate your Pc which will actually swcith off the power to your hard disk and also the system, if you are not using Pc for more than Half-an-Hour.Hibernate retains the current status of your system even though the power to harddisk is cut off. If you are going to be away for just few minutes, then do not use the hibernate option. Switching on-off’s of you hard disk will actually reduce the life of hard disk.When you computer hibernates,it stores whatever it has in memory on your hard disk and then shuts down. When your computer comes out of hibernation, it returns to its previous state.
To Access the Hibernate Option
Go to ControlPanel>> Select the Power Options Icon>> Select the Hibernate Tab and check the Enable Hibernation Check Box.
The windows defragmenter sucks. Simply too slow and bereft of features. Best to use something like Diskeeper to defrag, so that the job gets done quickly and thoroughly. The new versions even have an automatic defragment feature so that manual defragmentation is no longer required.
Yes Malacath windows defragmenter takes very long time. Disk keeper can do the job quickly but we have to pick up extra money from out pocket for achieving this.
