How to change IP-address of your system

Ipconfig is the command issued at the command prompt to know the ip-address associated with your system.You can have more than one Ip-address , if you have more than one network adapter or network connection.

1. Click on “Start” in the bottom left hand corner of screen
2. Click on “Run”
3. Type in “command” and hit ok

You should now be at an MSDOS prompt screen.

4. Type “ipconfig /release” just like that, and hit “enter”
5. Type “ipconfig /renew” to get a new dynamic ip-address from your system.
6. Type “exit” and leave the prompt.

Changing of Ip-address is useful in cases like

1. To  reset network  configuration of your system.
2. You can chage the Ip-address if you are facing any conflicts with switch or any router.
3. Reassigning an Ip-address due to an power outage on the router or an modem.
4. To hide your identity on the web.
